LICENSING
A new Licensing Act was introduced in August 2005, premises where alcohol is supplied, entertainment or hot food is sold after 11pm, must obtain a Premises Licence. The person managing the premises requires a Personal Licence and there has to be a named Designated Premises Supervisor.
Licensing objectives are centered on the prevention of crime and disorder; public safety; the prevention of public nuisance; and the protection of children from harm. Individuals, local businesses and authorities have the right to object to a Premises Licence. This could lead to an existing licence being revoked or an application for a new licence being rejected.
